The Met Office has forecast above normal rain and snowfall during February 2017, saying that about 3 weather systems were expected to pass across the country. In Feb, it said, more than a normal snowfall is expected in mountainous areas of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Fog intensity is likely to reduce gradually in plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Upper Sindh during the month, it added.
"2 to 3 weather systems are likely to pass across the country. Global climate indicators such as North Atlantic Oscillations (NAO), El Nino & Southern Oscillations (ENSO) and Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) are expected to remain neutral in February 2017," the Met said. It said that precipitation was likely to remain normal in March. However, rainfall will be more than snowfall.
