Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) has issued the figures of cotton arrival up to January 31st, 2017. Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 10,634,627 bales of cotton have reached ginneries across Pakistan as of January 31st, showing an increase of 10.63 percent compared to corresponding period last year when ginneries received 9,612,711 bales.
According to the 9th fortnightly report of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) issued here today, Chairman of PCGA Dr Jeso Mal, Ex-Chairman Shehzad Ali Khan and group Chairman Haji Muhammad Akram, Senior Vice Chairman Suhail Mehmood Haral briefed the media men about cotton production and said out of the total arrivals, 10.63 million bales of cotton have been converted into bales so far.
Ginneries in Punjab recorded arrival of 6,849,887 bales recorded increase of 16.94 percent. Sindh ginneries recorded arrival of 3,784,740 bales while last year Sindh received 3,755,015 bales merely 0.79 percent more. Ginneries in Sindh recorded an increase of 0.79 percent as compared to corresponding period last year.
Textile mills have bought 9,515,478 bales while exporters bought 2,02,356 bales. The total bales sold out so far were calculated at 9,717,834 bales. While 9,16,793 bales are lying unsold. Multan received 2,94,027 bales 129.57 percent increase than last year, Lodhran 1,91,620 bales 104.93 percent increase, Khanewal 5,78,185 bales 47.97 percent increase, Muzaffargarh 3,24,981 bales an increase of 24.37 percent, Dera Ghazi Khan 3,36,607 an increase of 15.41 percent, Rajanpur 3,33,312 bales, 17.85 percent decrease, Layyah 2,67,825 bales 7.51 percent increase, Vehari 3,81,248 bales 24.78 percent increase, Sahiwal 2,10,688 bales 16.35 percent less than last year, Pakpattan 41,909 bales 37.01 percent less, Okara 19,086 13.63 percent less, Toba Tek Singh 1,58,429 bales, Faisalabad 38,380 bales 28.17 percent less than last year, Jhang 30,102 showing decrease of 26.51 percent, Mianwali 2,64,305 a decrease of 17.62 percent, Bhakkar 61,641 (23.72 percent less) Sargodha 9,847(12.07 percent less), Rahimyar Khan 11,44,275 bales (Merely 4.16% increase), Bahawalpur 9,74,942 an increase of 34.95%, and Bahawalnagar 11,88, 478 an increase of 37.36 percent. In Sindh: Hyderabad 2,27,486 bales 9.27 percent less than last year,Mirpur Khas (Thar) 2,69,933 bales 1 percent less, Sangarh, 12,30,041 bales 7.83 percent decrease, Nawabshah 3,27,157 bales (4.65 increase), Naushero Feroze 3,36,411 bales (18.84 percent increase), Khairpur 2,89,517 (9 percent increase) Ghotki 3,01,574 (3.88 increase), Sukkur 5,42,831 (19.26 percent increase)Dadu 44,791 bales (25.26 percent increase) Jamshoro 1,12,036 bales (15.76 percent less), Badeen 27,027 bales 14.47 percent less) and Baluchistan 75,936 bales (an increase of 32,12 percent).
Total 180 ginning factories are operational in the country. Of them 87 in Punjab and 93 in Sindh. Total 9,16,793 bales are lying in unsold stock.
