Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 89,486 tonnes of cargo comprising 64,818 tonnes of import cargo and 24,668 tonnes of export cargo including 5,777 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 64,818 tonnes comprised of 42,766 tonnes of containerised cargo; 16,052 tonnes of bulk cargo: 7,602 tonnes of DAP; 8,450 tonnes of soyabean meal and 6,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,668 tonnes comprised of 21,348 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of general cargo and 3,120 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 5,777 containers comprising of 3,071 containers import and 2,706 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,045 of 20's and 882 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 131 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 655 of 20's and 231 of 40's loaded containers while 325 of 20's and 632 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely CMA CGM Eiffel, Newark, Cosco Wellington, Oriental Protea and IVS Hirono carrying containers, chemical and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Vecchiq Bridge, Northern Dependant, Kota Lahir, Nave Andromeda and Aeolos carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Wide India, Red Cosmos and Cevdet-A carrying containers, soyameal and molasses respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while another ship namely Northern Dependant carrying containers is expected to sail on Thursday.
There was one vessel viz. ABB Vanessa carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday while five vessels viz. MT Shalamar, MT Karachi, FPMC P Glory, Kiran Marmara and Waldy Slaw Orkan carrying oil tankers, mogas, steel and project cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

As many as 3,819 containers comprising of 3,252 containers import and 567 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were two ships namely MT Al Mukhtarah and MV Thorco Manatee carrying oil tanker and general cargo sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely CV Northern Magnum carrying containers is expected to sail on the night of Wednesday.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Northern Magnum, CV MSC Albany, CV Teo, CV Al-Makhtarah, MV Thorco Manatee, MV Thalassini and MT White Purl currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, slag, canola seeds and LPG respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as three ships namely MV Zealand Ariane, MT Al-Rekayyat and MT Harmony-1 carrying clinker, LNG and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Wednesday.
There were four vessels viz. CV Maersk Savannah, MV Wlady Slaw Orkan, MT Al-Rekayyat and MT Bahara carrying containers, project cargo, LNG and diesel oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Energy Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely MT Distya Ameya carrying oil tanker due to arrive on Wednesday, while another ship namely CV Maipo carrying containers is due to arrive on Thursday.
