Senate body annoyed over delay in expansion of Parliament Lodges
A parliamentary body expressed annoyance over inordinate delay in construction of additional block of Parliament Lodges on Tuesday and asked Capital Development Authority (CDA) and contractor to come up with a way forward in the next meeting to complete the project.
A subcommittee of the Senate House Committee which met with Convener Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hassani took up the issue of delay in construction of additional block of the Parliament Lodges.
A CDA official informed the committee that under the plan of the project, 106 family suites for parliamentarians, 500 servant quarters, a Jama mosque and a service block were to be constructed.
He said the expansion project of Parliament Lodges was launched in 2011 and the schedule for the completion of the project was November 19, 2013, but due to slow pace of work by the contractor, the project got delayed. So far the contractor has managed to complete only 52 percent of the construction work, he added.
The private firm while giving its version said the initial delay in the possession of the project area, provision of drawing and payment led to the inordinate delay in its completion.
