Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (PIAF) has urged the Punjab government to abolish the Infrastructure Development Cess on the import of raw material.
The PIAF chairman Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said the federal government in its budget 2016-17 had extended zero rated facility to the export industry, to meet the exporters' demand. On the contrary, the Punjab government levied 0.90 percent Infrastructure Development Cess on the import of raw material to be used in the manufacturing of exportable goods resulting in increase of input cost, he added. He stressed the need for taking measures to provide relief to manufactures of exportable goods by abolishing Infrastructure Development Cess on the raw material being imported by the zero rated industry.
