Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping, Mir Hasil Bizenjo has demanded off the federal government on Sunday to postpone census until non-nationals present in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) exit the country. Bizenjo has announced to take the matter to the Supreme Court (SC) and seek postponement of census in two provinces. The federal minister has claimed that the government of KP led by Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak is not in favour of a census.
Besides moving to the top court, Bizenjo announced to raise the issue in Senate and National Assembly; however he did not state that the political party has boycotted the census.
Statement of the federal minister has come in a couple of days after Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa permitted provision of 200,000 troops for security purposes over country-wide census.
Last year in December, Supreme Court instructed the government to begin census by March 15 and conclude the process by May 15, 2017.
