PIC extends treatment, diagnostic facilities

As many as 2017 angiography and angioplasty procedures were performed at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) during the current month as compared to 1244 cases handled during the same period in the year 2016.
Medical Superintendent Punjab Institute of Cardiology Dr Dildar Ahmad Khan said here on Sunday that the performance of the Institute has improved considerably and best treatment and diagnostic facilities are being extended to cardiac patients in the institute.
He added that in January 2016, as many as 513 thallium scans were conducted while this year, the number of thallium scan tests has reached 647. Only six CT angiography tests were performed in January 2016 while this year 255 CT angiography tests were conducted. Another indicator of improved performance of PIC is echocardiography tests, number of tests conducted in this year is 2655 as compared to 2547 tests during the same period last year.
