Over 441 kanal lands retrieved by OPC

Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab has got retrieved more than 441 kanal lands valued more than 40 million in the open market. This is the largest land which has been got vacated from the illegal squatters by the commission in terms of size.
Commissioner OPC Afzaal Bhatti disclosed this in a statement issued here yesterday. While giving details about this landmark achievement of the OPC, he said that an applicant, namely Asghar Ali, lodged a complaint to the commission that his 441 kanal and ten marla agri land in Thatti Anok Singh, district Hafiz Abad has been illegally occupied by some influential of the area. They have had refused to vacate the land and also threatened him of dire consequences.
The applicant further said that he is residing in Saudi Arabia and cannot grapple with the land-grabbers.
Afzaal Bhatti said that this complaint was referred to the District Overseas Pakistanis Committee, Hafizabad for further necessary action. This committee pursued the case vigorously. After a legal battle and through support of the line departments, the whole land was got vacated from the illegal occupants and handed over to the applicant, Asghar Ali who had thanked the commission for its support and co-operation.
Commissioner further said that OPC vigorously pursues the complaints of expatriate Pakistanis to help protect their legal rights. Expat Pakistanis can contact the OPC for the resolution of their issues anytime.
