Tetra Pak(r) Introduces One-step Technology For Processing Aseptic White Milk
Tetra Pak is the world's leading food processing and packaging solutions company. Working closely with our customers and suppliers, we provide safe, innovative and environmentally sound products that each day, meet the needs of hundreds of millions of people in more than 175 countries around the world. Our motto, "PROTECTS WHAT'S GOOD" reflects our vision to make food safe and available, everywhere.
The newly introduced one-step technology is a solution from Tetra Pak(r) that incorporates UHT white milk production within a single, high-throughput process. It eliminates the need for pasteurisation, pre-treatment and intermediate storage. In one unbroken step raw milk is preheated, clarified, standardised and homogenised, before undergoing UHT treatment and regenerative cooling, and then being transferred to aseptic buffer tanks.
In essence, the innovation of one-step technology is that it combines heat treatment, and standardisation into a single step, significantly simplifying and accelerating the production process.
This the first time that Tetra Pak has introduced this technology to the Pakistani market which offers a number of advantages for dairies producing large quantities of white UHT milk in terms of:
High product quality
Product quality is enhanced by the greatly reduced processing time from raw milk to ready UHT milk, and the fat content is regulated with high accuracy. Moreover, advanced automation reduces the risk of human error while offering full traceability and control, for maximum food safety.
High production efficiency and flexibility
Product loss is reduced by up to 30% and availability to filling machines is up to 100%. Moreover, a variety of products can be produced on short notice through a few simple changes.
Environmentally efficient production
one-step technology cuts energy and water consumption by up to 35%, as well as waste and effluent load by up to 60%. All this reduces the carbon footprint by 40% - while reducing operating costs.
Significantly reduced costs
Operating costs are reduced by up to 50% compared to conventional solutions. And because less equipment and floor space are required, capital costs can also be reduced.
A lighter approach to packaging
Ecolean, a fast-growing innovator and producer of lightweight packaging believes in a lighter approach, in everything they do. From the manufacturing process of innovative packaging systems for the dairy and beverage industry to the way they conduct their business.
In the world of packaging, suppliers need to stand out in the same way that packages needs to stand out to be picked by demanding consumer hands. Ecolean's innovative and lighter packaging solutions is the answer to the demands of the global liquid food industry and modern consumers asking for smart and safe packages. The unique shape and concept of the stand-up pouches makes it easier for brand-owners to be innovative in differentiating their brands, helping dairy and beverage producers in markets all over the world, increase visibility and stand out on store shelves.
"Innovation has always been fundamental for Ecolean. The unique jug shape and concept of our stand-up pouch makes it easier for our customers to differentiate their brands. We are proud of being able to welcome brand owners and consumer to a lighter world where innovation is key and you really can make a difference" says Kamran Khan, Managing Director, Ecolean Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd. By using a minimal amount of raw material Ecolean produces a truly lightweight package and therefore reduce the environmental impact. Its weight alone saves resources.
Letting us all tread a little bit more lightly and save on Earths limited resources. "An approach much appreciated." Shares Kamran Khan and continues: "By using less material we create a lightweight package with a low environmental impact. We extend this lighter approach to the way we conduct our activities daily making ourselves more efficient.
Innovative and attractive packaging solutions
Creating a pitcher out of flexible packaging is nothing less than ingenuity. Ecolean mini jug is a shape well-known by consumers in Pakistan. The air-filled handle is an important detail in the clever design. Besides being convenient to hold it adds stability to the package. The packaging material consists of 40% chalk, the rest of PE and PP, making it strong. The unique Ecolean package suits various purposes in sizes from portion packs to family size packages and we have solutions for both ambient and chilled distributions.
"Stability despite being flexible is an important feature of our packages. No matter your age, the air-filled handle makes the Ecolean package easy to grip and pour from. The opening is done without a need of scissor, you simply just tear it off. Contrary to many of our competitors, Ecolean is in fact designed for action. Making it the perfect solution both at home and on the go": reveals Kamran Khan.
Low weight equals low environmental impact
An Ecolean package weighs only 14 grams, which is up to 50% of a conventional liquid food packages. The trend is clear and apparent all around the world. Producers, consumers, retailers and governments all strive for more sustainable products and packaging. Reducing the amount of packaging material used, transported and disposed of, creates great gains in the whole product life cycle. Independent studies have shown the Ecolean package to be effective throughout the package's whole lifecycle, from the manufacturing to the waste eventually dispose. Brand owners using lightweight packaging are not only reporting cost savings but also improved environmental profile, brand image and company reputation among other benefits. Completely in line with the global demand of a resource saving society.
Another obvious advantage is the fact that an empty Ecolean package is totally empty. When viscous products like yogurt or cream are sold in conventional one litre packages such as cartons, as much as one decilitre stays in the package and is thrown away for no reason. Once empty, the Ecolean package is flat as an envelope, saving space in the trash bin, which naturally has a positive effect on the whole waste handling process.
