Activities of Karachi Port

The Karachi Port handled 95,482 tonnes of cargo comprising 79,049 tonnes of import cargo and 16,433 tonnes of export cargo including 4,336 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 79,049 tonnes comprised of 41,341 tonnes of containerised cargo; 115 tonnes of general cargo; 17,490 tonnes of bulk cargo: 13,446 tonnes of coal; 4,044 tonnes of soyabean meal and 20,103 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 16,433 tonnes comprised of 16,403 tonnes of containerised cargo and 300 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 4,336 containers comprising of 2,633 containers import and 1,703 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 739 of 20's and 938 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 08 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 461 of 20's and 94 of 40's loaded containers while 176 of 20's and 439 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely APL Japan, Pike, Farha, Bum Shin and HHL Amur carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Alexandria Bridge, OOCL California, MT Quetta and Navig-8 Sky carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely Navig-8 Sky carrying chemical expected to sail on Saturday. There were three vessels viz. Hamburg Bay, Hongli-8 and Oriental Queen carrying containers, oil tanker and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while three vessels viz. MSC Imma, Langeoog and Nave Andromeda carrying containers and mogas respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
