K-4 Corridor is exclusively meant for water supply projects. No other organisation or person could use this corridor. Only the K-4 canals would pass through the 1,000 feet wide corridor while remaining land will be reserved for future water projects, said Project Director Saleem Siddiqui while presiding over a meeting with (NTDC) National Transmission and Distribution Company, NESPAK, Usmani and Company and K-4 Field Management Unit Engineers here on Tuesday.
He said that the property of water holds paramount significance and has to be kept in mind while constructing the water conveyance system like canal, siphons and pipelines 13500 Acres of land has been acquired legally from the government of Sindh for the 124 kilometres long project by adopting legal procedures of the Board of Revenue Sindh for the K-4 Project.
He added that no other organisation could benefit from the land allotted specifically for the K-4 project. However, permission could be obtained by any organisation for a project of utmost national interest, said project director Saleem Siddiqui. He reiterated that no organisation or person would be allowed to trespass or cross through the exclusive corridor. Any accommodation through the K -4 corridor could be obtained only after taking proper permission and on concluding land and rent agreement after entering into a formal agreement and paying three years rent in advance.
It was clarified that construction in the vicinity of K-4 corridor must be at least 50 meters away on both sides of the corridor. Any construction or erecting any tower with in K-4 row would not be allowed.
He said that special measures for protecting the site would be put in place. Fareed Siddiqui, Project Director NTDC on the occasion briefed the meeting about 1320 MW Double Circuit Line being laid from Port Qasim to Matiari Grid Station. It was decided that NTDC would ensure that its high voltage transmission line and towers would remain out of the K-4 Project area. It was also decided that NESPAK and Usmani and Company would exchange information about the K-4 and Transmission Line projects after which another meeting would be convened for taking further course of action.-PR
