Punjab Assembly on Tuesday adopted a resolution recommending stringent measures for those selling unhygienic milk in the province. The resolution was moved in the House by legislators Taimour Masud and Rahela Anwar. The session was presided over by Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal. The House passed another resolution whereby the government was asked to direct cable operators to dub cartoon movies in Urdu language.
Though the resolution tabled in the House by lawmaker Faiza Mushtaq wanted the government to make it binding upon cable operators to ban dubbing of cartoon movies in Hindi, the House passed it, urging the government to ask cable operators to dub cartoon movies in Urdu language. The House also passed another resolution whereby its mover lawmaker Waseem Akhtar had suggested introduction of Nazra and translation of Holy Qur'an along the text in schools and colleges of Punjab.
During question-answer session, parliamentary secretary on food informed the House that Punjab Food Authority was established in district Lahore under Punjab Food Authority Act 2011. He said that under Punjab Pure Food Rules 2011, samples of pasteurised milk, UHT milk were tested in laboratories. There was no type A-1 and A-2 milk in Punjab Food Authority Rules, he added. The two bills - 'The Punjab Land Preservation (Amendment) Bill 2016 and 'The Punjab Animals Slaughter Control (Amendment) Bill 2016 - which were to be moved in the House in its Tuesday session could not be taken up.
