The Karachi Port handled 163,612 tonnes of cargo comprising 123,345 tonnes of import cargo and 40,267 tonnes of export cargo including 7,563 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 123,345 tonnes comprised of 53,925 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,742 tonnes of general cargo; 39,228 tonnes of bulk cargo and 26,450 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 40,267 tonnes comprised of 24,692 tonnes of containerised cargo, 6,850 tonnes of general cargo and 8,725 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,563 containers comprising of 3,843 containers import and 3,720 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,475 of 20's and 1,138 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 46 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 535 of 20's and 456 of 40's loaded containers while 453 of 20's and 910 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely CV Express Black Sea and MV Finesses carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely CV TG Poseidon and MT Nordic Gas carrying containers and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Express Black Sea, CV TG Poseidon, CV MSC Lucy, MV Finesses, MT Golden Trade, MT Nordic Gas, MT Bunga Angelica and MT Sea Danse currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, soyabean seeds, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely CV Al Manamah and MV DA Kang carrying containers and general cargo respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Monday.
There were three vessels viz. CV Al Manamah, MV Ocean Vander and MV DA Kang carrying containers and general cargo expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were two ships namely CV Maersk Atlanta and MV Aal Bangkok carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
