In the wake of Saturday's blast in Kurram Agency, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh A.D. Khawaja, directed that security be heightened in the province. A Sindh police spokesman said on Saturday that the overall security would be beefed up at sensitive places including government and semi-government offices, railway stations, airports, business and shopping centres, public places and parks.
The IGP also asked the police to start snap checking and patrolling to neutralize the potential threat. At least 24 people were killed and scores of others were wounded when a powerful bomb went off at a vegetable market in Parachinar, the headquarters of Kurram Agency.
