While refusing to convert CNG stations into LNG stations, All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) has demanded the government to withdraw recent hike in gas tariff in order to provide level playing field to the CNG sector. Speaking at a press conference, Abdus Sami Khan, Chairman CNG Dealers Association along with Junaid Makda, Malik Khuda Baksh, Shabbir H. Sulemanjee and Sardar Abdul Rafi Abbasi said, "We as CNG station owners would not convert our stations into LNG and demanded the government to withdraw recent hike in gas tariff and provide level playing field to the CNG sector."
He said that the government has increased gas tariff from Rs 656 per mmbtu to Rs 700 per mmbtu soon after the increase in CNG price by Rs 2.25 per kg after deregulation. He said that the recent hike in gas tariff had completely nullified the impact of CNG price, which was increased after four years to avoid operational losses. He also alleged that the government was forcing the CNG station owners to convert their stations into LNG by taking such harsh measures and added that they would not let the government to materialise its plan. Replying to a question, he said that the APCNGA had no other option but to start confrontation if the government did not withdraw the recent hike in gas tariff and demanded the government to withdraw it on immediate basis.
