ICC World Cup Qualifier: Pakistan women cricket team announced
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Friday 14-member women's cricket team to participate in the ICC Women World Cup Qualifier, 2017 from February 7 to February 21, 2017. Chairman PCB Shaharyar M. Khan has approved the team and 2 standbys picked up by the Women's National Selection Committee comprising Farrukh Zaman and Urooj Mumtaz Khan. The women's team practice camp is taking place in Karachi as a part of preparations for the World Cup qualifiers, a PCB spokesman, said.
Sources told Business Recorder that some women players have requested the PCB chairman to depute Basit Ali with the Women's team in this tour. It may be noted that Basit Ali was relieved from his duties in regard to the Women's Team and Junior Team following an alleged brawl with Mahmood Hamid. The selected players are Sana Mir (captain), Bismah Maroof (vice-captain), Javeria Wadood, Ayesha Zafar, Nahida Bibi, Syeda Nain Abidi, Sidra Amin, Sidra Nawaz (wicket keeper), Aliya Riaz, Nashra Sandhu, Ghulam Fatima, Anam Amin, Aiman Anwar and Maham Tariq. The two standbys are Rabiya Shah and Natalia Pervaiz.
