The Karachi Port handled 126,467 tonnes of cargo comprising 105,674 tonnes of import cargo and 20,793 tonnes of export cargo including 5,978 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 105,674 tonnes comprised of 48,919 tonnes of containerised cargo; 655 tonnes of general cargo; 12,500 tonnes of coal and 43,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 20,793 tonnes comprised of 18,428 tonnes of containerised cargo; 315 tonnes of general cargo and 2,050 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,978 containers comprising of 3,123 containers import and 2,855 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,342 of 20's and 856 of 40's loaded while 05 of 20's and 32 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 443 of 20's and 306 of 40's loaded containers while 314 of 20's and 743 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely OOCL Italy, Cosco Haifa, MT Lahore, Citron, Selin-D and Hong Master carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. MOL Experience, Wan Hai-501, MT Shalamar, Fidelity, Jeil Crystal and Apiradee Naree carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely KMTC Mumbai carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday, while six ships namely Northern Dependant. Kota Karim, Sima Giselle, MT Shalamar, Al Dasma and Fidelity carrying containers and oil tankers respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were three vessels viz. YM Excellence, Najdiah and Glovis Challenge carrying containers, oil tanker and vehicle respectively due to arrive on Thursday while five vessels viz. Al Abdali, Kota Lembah, Oriental Guerite, Olio and Glovis Star carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and vehicle respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
There were two ships namely CV MSC Silvana and MV Mariman carrying containers and rice respectively expected to sail on Thursday morning, while two ships namely MV Atlantic Glory and MT Umm Bab carrying chemical and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV MSC Silvana, CV Maersk Stepnica, MV Mariman, MV Amoy Action, MV Glory Navigator, MV Atlantic Glory, MT Umm Bab, MT Bochem Chennai and MT Elka Delphi currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, chemical, canola seeds, LNG, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV MSC Asya, CV CMA CGM Comeille, MV BBC Ohio, MV Igic Anka, MV Happy Penguin, MV Saadong Halyao, MV Amoy Action, MT Liberty-N, MT Distya Amely, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Serenceti and MT Bunga Allium carrying containers, project cargo, chemical, soyabean seeds, coal, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.
There were four vessels viz. CV MSC Asya, CV CMA CGM Comeille, MV Happy Penguin and MV Amoy Action carrying containers, project cargo and coal expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were eight ships namely CV MSC Asya, CV MSC Rita, CV CMA CGM Comeille, CV Nicoline Maersk, MV Malta, MT Liberty-N, MT Harmony and MT Al Dasma carrying containers, chemical, LPG, furnace oil and diesel oil due to arrive on Thursday while two ships namely CV ER Tianping and CV Maersk Innoshima carrying containers are due to arrive on Friday.
