SEPA demolishes 30 illegal fire tunnels

Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) on Wednesday with the help of district Police demolished thirty illegal fire tunnels at Ganju Takkar Latifabad, during the operation against illegal fire tunnels. Incharge SEPA Hyderabad Muneer Abbasi said that SEPA was receiving complaints from the residence of the area about that the process of illegal burning of batteries.
He said that burning of batteries is a serious threat to human health, plants, vegetation and animals and it also adversely affects the environment and ecology. He added that burning of batteries in the fire tunnels was violation of Sindh Environmental Protection Act, 2014 and warned the people involved in illegal fire tunnels to refrain from burning of batteries causing environmental pollution. He lauded the DIG Hyderabad Khadim Hussain Rind for providing police support during the operation against illegal fire tunnels.
