The government is working on a plan to make the federal capital a model city of the country, said Mayor of Metropolitan Corporation and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sheikh Ansar Aziz here on Sunday.
Speaking at a function organised in connection to celebrate the Christmas Day at Lok Versa, he said there would be visible change in near future as first ever local government in the federal capital would make the capital as a model city.
The Mayor also eulogised the services of the Christian Community in the development of Islamabad and stated their contribution would always be remembered.
In response to their services, he said CDA is also taking all required steps for their betterment.
We will continue to taking measures for the welfare of the Christian community, he said adding that CDA has allocated a plot for construction of Church in E-II Sector. Aziz said December 25th has significance for Pakistanis as well because on this day the founder of the nation was born.
Prime Minister Nawaz Shairf was also born on December 25 and is celebrating his birth day, Ansar Aziz added.
Mayor Islamabad also acknowledged contribution of Lok Virsa in promoting culture of all the four provinces as well as Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK in the country.
He said that Lok Virsa has also been functions aimed at promoting national unity and interfaith harmony. CDA will continue to provide every support and co-operation to the Lok Virsa.
The function was started with milli song sung by a group of artistes 'Millat Ka Pasban Muhammad Ali Jinnah' followed by provincial folk songs.
