The Karachi Port handled 192,035 tonnes of cargo comprising 186,931 tonnes of import cargo and 5,104 tonnes of export cargo including 5,129 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 186,931 tonnes comprised of 54,842 tonnes of containerised cargo; 23,589 tonnes of general cargo; 72,158 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 52,286 tonnes of coal; 11,931 tonnes of clinker; 5,528 tonnes of soyabean meal; 2,413 tonnes of canola seeds and 36,342 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 5,104 tonnes comprised of 3,791 tonnes of containerised cargo and 1,313 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 5,129 containers comprising of 3,850 containers import and 1,279 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,101 of 20's and 1,297 of 40's loaded while 15 of 20's and 70 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 65 of 20's and 84 of 40's loaded containers while 216 of 20's and 415 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Batam Trader, Kota Kasturi, Northern Dependant and Aqua Prosper carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Cosco Fukuyama, Trugen, Mid Fortune, Krania and Da Hua carrying containers, oil tankers, phosphate and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Rickmers Antwerp carrying general cargo sailed out to sea on Friday, while another ship namely Bavand carrying clinker is expected to sail on Saturday. There were three vessels viz. Cosco Wellington and Da Yu Xia carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday, while five vessels viz. Lissy Schulte, Seadance, Walleye, Bremen Trader and Paglia carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas, chemical and Vehicle respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
As many as 4,846 containers comprising of 2,373 containers import and 2,473 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were three ships namely CV CMA CGM Nerval, MV Atlantic Glory and MT Globe Tanya carrying containers, chemical and LPG respectively expected to sail on Friday evening.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Nerval, CV Maersk Surabaya, MV An African, MV Atlantic Glory, MT Globe Tanya, MT Pacific Beryl and MT Rich Sino currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, chemical, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as ten ships namely CV San Felix, MV Throco Arvit, MV Diavolezza, MV Mariman, MT Maria-III, MT White Purl, MT Harmony, MT Pvt Athend, MT Brizo and MT Bahra carrying containers, project cargo, canola seeds, rice, LPG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday.
There were four vessels viz. CV San Felix, CV Hugo Schulte, MV Throco Arvit and MV Diavolezza carrying containers, project cargo and canola seeds respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Grains & Fertilizer Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were seven ships namely CV Hugo Schulte, MV Thorco Attraction, MV Cash Chem Rhne, MT Maran Gas Delfi, MT Al-Dasma, MT Brizo and MT Anka carrying containers, project cargo, chemical, LNG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are three ships namely CV Hermes, MT Bremen Trader and MT Gemini Gas carrying containers and LPG respectively are due to arrive on Saturday, while three ships namely CV Express Black Sea, CV MSC Rachele and MV Georgia carrying containers and canola seeds respectively are due to arrive on Sunday.
