Spot corn and soyabean bids at elevators and processors in the US Midwest were generally steady to firmer on Wednesday after light farmer sales spurred demand for both crops, grain merchants said. They said producers are winding down their operations in preparation for the extended Christmas holiday, which also supported bids for ethanol corn. Chicago Board of Trade corn futures dipped in quiet pre-holiday positioning while soyabean gained slightly.
