The Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has urged the government to immediately start construction of dams that would not only assist in solving energy crisis, faced by the country, but also provide water for agriculture. KBP Central President Chaudhry Nisar Ahmad also urged the government not to raise the prices of petroleum products next month.
Reacting to a news of proposed raise in petroleum prices, Chaudhry Nisar said that this news had sent a wave of unrest among the growers as it might lead to closure of thousands of tube-wells for agricultural purposes and bring agricultural machinery to a halt. He urged the government to declare water as national asset, contest Indian water aggression at international forums and construct new dams providing cheaper energy.
