Activity at Karachi & Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 215,235 tonnes of cargo comprising 183,259 tonnes of import cargo and 31,976 tonnes of export cargo including 6,599 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 183,259 tonnes comprised of 51,848 tonnes of containerised cargo; 64,593 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 38,500 tonnes of coal; 8,652 tonnes of DAP; 5,841 tonnes of soyabean meal; 11,600 tonnes of clinker and 66,818 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,976 tonnes comprised of 31,656 tonnes of containerised cargo and 320 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 6,599 containers comprising of 3,642 containers import and 2,957 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,050 of 20's and 1,243 of 40's loaded while 30 of 20's and 38 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 828 of 20's and 291 of 40's loaded containers while 471 of 20's and 538 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Itam Milione, Elka Delphi and Mu Mian Song carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. APL Coral, Maraki-K, Al Mahboobah, Ham-318 and Greener carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, dredger and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were five ships namely Wide India, Vecchio Bridge, MT Karachi, Ivs Gleneagles and Phoenix Nereid carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and DAP respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while another ship namely Northern Dependant carrying containers is expected to sail on Thursday.
There were four vessels viz. MOL Explorer, Batam Trader, Kota Kasturi and Athina carrying containers and mogas respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while six vessels viz. Cosco Fukuyama, Trugen, MT Lahore, KY Venus, Mid Fortune and Da Hua carrying containers, oil tankers, white spirit, chemical and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 90,080 tonnes includes 5,000 tonnes of palm oil; 28,000 tonnes of LNG; 1,980 tonnes of chemical and 55,100 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 26,054 tonnes includes 2,281 tonnes of crude oil; 2,873 tonnes of cement and 20,900 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,000 containers comprising of 2,900 containers import and 1,100 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were three ships namely MT Eagle Phoenix, MT Shan Song Zihe and MV Argent Freesia carrying oil tankers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two ships namely CV Mearsk Chicago and MT Al-Rekayyat carrying containers and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Mearsk Chicago, CV MSC Tokomo, MV An African, MV Da Hua, MV Infinity, MV Argent Freesia, MT Al-Rekayyat, MT Shan Song Zihe and MT Eagle Phoenix currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, project cargo, canola seeds, chemical, LNG, palm oil and crude oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eight ships namely CV Maersk Surabaya, MV Atlantic Glory, MT Maria-III, MT Harmony, MT Pvt Athend, MT Quetta, MT Brizo and MT Chemroad Sea carrying containers, chemical, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Wednesday.
There were four vessels viz. CV Maersk Surabaya, MV Atlantic Glory, MT Quetta and MT Chemroad Sea carrying containers, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There were five ships namely CV MSC Rachele, MV Cash Chem Rhne, MT Maran Gas Delfi, MT Al-Dasma and MT Brizo carrying containers, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There are three ships namely CV CMA CGM Nerval, MV Thorco Arival and MT Globe Tanya carrying containers, project cargo and LPG respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while two ships namely CV San Felix and MV Diavolezza carrying containers and canola seeds respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
