Apropos a news item carried by Business Recorder on November 28, 2016 under the headline, "CCP top brass accused of misusing public fund," the CCP would like to clarify matters pertaining to the working of the Commission. "CCP has clarified that the observations of the Auditors on the perks of the Chairperson and Members of the Commission are based on their understanding of the applicable laws. The accounts of the Commission are audited annually by the office of the Directorate General Audit (Federal Government) as well as external audit firms and the reports are laid before the parliament in accordance with the provision of Competition Act.
"On the matter of the CCP's promotion policy having been challenged in the Islamabad High Court by an officer of the Commission on grounds of discrimination, CCP would like to state that the Islamabad High Court had passed an order in favour of CCP in May 2016, upholding its promotion policy and rejecting the petitioner's allegations of discrimination in the promotion of senior officers. "The appointments in the Commission are made purely on merit basis against sanctioned positions that were widely advertised in the print media following the fit-and-proper criteria and without any influence whatsoever".-PR
