The students of Islami Jamiat Talaba brutally thrashed several teachers and security personnel of the Punjab University on Friday when they tried to stop the students from holding a seminar in Hostel No 1 in the memory of martyrs of Army Public School. Sources said the students had written a letter to the administration seeking permission to hold a seminar which was refused. As a result, they forcibly held the seminar.
Students attacked with stones when the security tried to stop them, injuring almost 10 guards. Students also manhandled and abused the teachers. On information, police reached there but did not take any action against the students, the sources added. Talking to media, Professor Dr Sajid Rasheed criticized the attitude of police and said they were providing shelter to the students. He added that these students also broke the car of Chairman Hall Council, Professor Dr Abid Hussain Chaudhry. Vice Chancellor Mujahid Kamran said some students were disturbing the atmosphere of university with the help of 'influential' people.
