Deputy Mayor Karachi Arshad Vohra has said that Mairaj Muhammad Khan was the "voice" of deprived people of the society and his vision was not only for Karachi but for the entire country. While addressing the launching ceremony of Rasheed Jamal's book titled "Mairaj Muhammad Khan," organised by Literary Committee Karachi Press Club on Friday at KPC, Deputy Mayor Karachi also announced to name one of the roads as Mairaj Muhammad Khan Road to pay him tribute. "We will present a motion in the next meeting of local council for name of a road as Mairaj Muhammad Khan," he added.
He said that development is necessary to eliminate poverty from Pakistan and it was also the vision and motto of late Mairaj Muhammad Khan. Barrister Sibghatullah Qadri in him address urged the government for announcement of national award "Nishan- e-Imtiaz" for Mairaj Khan. He said that Mairaj was a loyal and true Pakistani and he raised the slogan for first time of Rooti (food), Kapra (cloth) and Makan (House) for the people of Pakistan.
He said that in the past, government declared Mairaj Muhammad Khan a security risk for speaking in favour of China, while now the present government has signed CEPC with China for the development of Pakistan. "Rights of people in Pakistan are equal and the trend of distribution of certification of betrayer should be stooped," he said. Dr Miraj-ul-Huda Siddique said that deprived people feel like orphans after the death of Mairaj Muhammad Khan and presently there is need of a true leader who can raise voice for their rights. "Despite the fact that I was associated with Jamat-e-Islami, I always listened to his speeches as he was real voice of masses," he added.
On the occasion, Azhar Jamil, Faisal Edhi of Edhi Foundation, Habibuddin Junaidi, Aniq Ahmed, Mujahid Bralvi, Minhas Rehman, Akram Qaimkhani, Manzoor Razi and other also expressed their views. The author Rasheed Jamal is writer of six books.
