The National Finance Olympiad (NFO) is a unique initiative brought by ICAP in collaboration with Unilever Pakistan to bring to limelight the talent of finance and accounting professionals in Pakistan. The concept of NFO has been conceived to entice finance professionals in a truly innovative way towards continuing with their professional development.
NFO is a unique combination of testing skills, showcasing talent and basking in the glory of triumph. The exciting program provides a unique opportunity to finance professionals working in industry and professional firms to come together, compete and celebrate their competence. The objectives are to encourage participants to step up their knowledge and application of Accounting, Finance and Governance standards, facilitate networking and recognize finance talent. The event, while fostering an environment of competition, also focuses on building knowledge sharing culture and celebrating team work.
It is the first time ever that finance and accounting professionals working in industry as well as professional firms competed together in a championship. The competition constitutes two major rounds; the qualifying round is a competitive MCQ based examination held on November 22, 2016 at ICAP offices in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. The second round is the Grand Finale held on November 28, 2016 wherein top teams went through rigorous yet amusing sessions including a thrilling buzzer round, direct question and answer round and presentation round.
The winning team, Gadoon Textile Mills, was awarded a majestic Champions Trophy, Mac Book Air and shields for each of the three team members. The 1st Runner Up, KPMG Taseer Hadi & Company, received iPad Air and shields for all team members and the 2nd Runner Up, Central Depository Company, received iPad Mini and shields for all team members.
The event was moderated by Mr Mansoor Soomro, CEO, Colloquium and Blitz Advertising Private Limited was the event manager. Media partners for the event were Business Recorder and ARY Digital Network. The prizes for the audience engagement were sponsored by iTECH. The event was streamed live on ICAP website as well as the NFO Facebook page with over 1200 views.
