Activity at Karachi & Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 100,547 tonnes of cargo comprising 73,205 tonnes of import cargo and 27,342 tonnes of export cargo including 4,419 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 73,205 tonnes comprised of 28,402 tonnes of containerised cargo; 241 tonnes of general cargo; 42,712 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 32,997 tonnes of coal; 9,715 tonnes of DAP and 1,850 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,342 tonnes comprised of 25,167 tonnes of containerised cargo and 2,175 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,419 containers comprising of 1,863 containers import and 2,556 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 746 of 20's and 518 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 40 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 552 of 20's and 620 of 40's loaded containers while 84 of 20's and 340 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Venice Bridge, Taroko, KMTC Dubai, Asavari and Rowan-1 carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Batam Trader, Ever Divine, Stolt Courage, Bunga Lucerne and BBC Campana carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were four ships namely Kota Kaya, Batam Trader, YM Orchid and BBC Campana carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday while three ships namely Stolt Courage, Bunga Lucerne and Pacific Legend carrying oil tanker, chemical and DAP respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were four vessels Sabya, Elka Delphi, Mandarin China and Bavand carrying containers, mogas, coal and clinker respectively due to arrive on Thursday while six vessels viz. APL Coral, Ginga Merlin, Maraki-K, Lord Wellington, IVS Gleneagles and Seacon-8 carrying containers, oil tankers, DAP, coal and steel respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

The total import cargo of 50,718 tonnes includes 12,074 tonnes of furnace oil; 9,490 tonnes of palm oil; 2,136 tonnes of LPG; 20,858 tonnes of coal; 916 tonnes of fertilizer and 5,244 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 61,828 tonnes includes 8,001 tonnes of rice and 53,827 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,109 containers comprising of 276 containers import and 2,833 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were three ships namely CV MSC Mykonos, MT Liberty-N and MT Lion-M carrying containers, LPG and furnace oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely CV UASC Al Khor carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Maersk Savannah, CV UASC Al Khor, CV MSC Mykonos, MV Serene Susannah, MV Johann Oldendroff, MV Bella Masuka, MT Senna Princess, MT Liberty-N, MT Lion-M and MT Rebecca Schulte currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, fertilizer, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen ships namely CV Mataquito, MV Infinity, MV Mu Mian Song, MV African Turach, MT Plumeria Coral, MT White Purl, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Harmony, MT Pvt Athend, MT Qubba, MT Bunga Angsana, MT Shan Dong Zihe and MT Chemroad Sea carrying containers, canola seeds, project cargo, steel coil, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.
There were three vessels viz. CV Mataquito, MT Plumeria Coral and MT Al-Soor-II carrying containers, LPG and diesel oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGP LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were four ships namely CV Posiden, CV MSC Joanna, MT Maran Gas Delfi and MT Brizo carrying containers, LNG and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are two ships namely CV Atacama and CV Uni Florifida carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
