Activities of Karachi and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 152,011 tonnes of cargo comprising 133,558 tonnes of import cargo and 18,453 tonnes of export cargo including 6,774 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 133,558 tonnes comprised of 50,370 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,831 tonnes of general cargo; 18,938 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 18,000 tonnes of coal; 938 tonnes of DAP and 50,419 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 18,453 tonnes comprised of 12,021 tonnes of containerised cargo and 6,432 tonnes of loose bulk cement. As many as 6,774 containers comprising of 4,713 containers import and 2,061 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The break-up of imported containers shows 985 of 20's and 1,751 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 113 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 190 of 20's and 283 of 40's loaded containers while 307 of 20's and 499 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Cosco Sao Paulo, Northern Dependent, Lady Venus, ER Maden and Glovis Prestige carrying containers, oil tanker, fertiliser and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Osaka Tower, Bright World, Serengeti, Glovis Prestige and Ocean Victory carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicle and general cargo currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Jinfa carrying general cargo sailed out to sea on Friday while another ship namely Bright World carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Saturday. There were seven vessels APL Japan, Hyundai Long Beach, MT Karachi, Ardmore Dauntless, Pacific Legend, Johann Oldendorff and African Turaco carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, DAP, coal and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while four vessels viz. MS Jasmine, Batam Trader, Itami and Izumo carrying containers, steel and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

The total import cargo of 40,570 tonnes includes 7,730 tonnes of palm oil; 4,000 tonnes of project cargo; 12,500 tonnes of chemical and 16,340 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 12,540 tonnes includes 12,540 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,520 containers comprising of 860 containers import and 660 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There was one ship namely CV Maipo carrying containers sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely CV Northern Jamborne carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of five vessels viz. CV Maipo, CV Northern Jamborne, MV Imari, MV Genuine Hercules and MT SC Beihal currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, chemical and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV CMA CGM Tosca, MV Genuine Hercules, MV Ginga Panther, MT Globe Tanya, MT Senna Princess, MT Liberty-N, MT Nave Rigel, MT Harmony, MT Pvt Athend, MT Lion-M, MT Bunga Almanda and MT Chemroad Haya carrying containers, chemical, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday.
There were four vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Tosca, CV Maersk Innoshima, MV Belle Masuka and MV Serene Susannah carrying containers, rice and fertiliser expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Grains & Fertiliser Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were nine ships namely CV Al Khor, CV MSC Mykonos, CV CMA CGM Tosca, CV Maersk Innoshima, MV Belle Masuka, MT Senna Princess, MT Maran Gas Delfi, MV Serene Susannah and MT Al Dasma carrying containers, fertiliser, LPG, LNG, rice and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Friday. There is one ship namely CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
