Imran rejects commission option

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan Thursday rejected Supreme Court's proposal to form an inquiry commission for carrying out a thorough investigation into the Panamagate case. "We do not require an inquiry commission to decide the Panama Leaks case," Imran told a press conference after consulting the legal team and senior members of his party, as the apex court had asked both the parties to give their opinion on whether a commission should be formed.
Imran said the apex court bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali can decide the case on a day-to-day basis, as the whole nation has fixed eyes on apex court. He questioned as to how the commission would yield results when all state institutions are working under the Premier, adding Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will not resign as a result of the commission's findings.
Imran reiterated that all ministers are working in unison to hide Sharif family's corruption. "The premier termed his earlier address in the Parliament a political speech, which meant that it was scripted and that he was lying to the nation," he said. He further said that masses are fast losing their faith in institutions, adding, "people are under the impression that nothing can be done against the powerful and the influential."
Imran added that the PTI had come up with the decision regarding the commission after holding an intra-party consultation on the matter. Regarding the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) airplane crash, the PTI chairman said the incident has underscored the need for improving the standards of the national flag carrier. "PIA's safety record is not very encouraging, we need to conduct an inquiry into the incident and take steps to avoid such incidents in future," Imran maintained.
He specially lauded the services of young Deputy Commissioner Chitral Osama Ahmad Warraich, saying he had been doing a wonderful job since his posting in the district last year. "I went to Chitral last year and all the people were all praise for him," he maintained. About the singer-turned preacher Junaid Jamshed, he said he was a great man, and the way he helped him in collecting donations for Shaukat Khanum Cancer Memorial Hospital back in the 1990s could not be forgotten.
