Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 139,049 tonnes of cargo comprising 94,493 tonnes of import cargo and 44,556 tonnes of export cargo including 7,652 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 94,493 tonnes comprised of 58,959 tonnes of containerised cargo; 199 tonnes of general cargo; 29,143 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 22,700 tonnes of coal; 6,443 tonnes of DAP and 6,192 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 44,556 tonnes comprised of 34,126 tonnes of containerised cargo; 90 tonnes of general cargo and 10,340 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,652 containers comprising of 4,547 containers import and 3,105 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,255 of 20's and 1,369 of 40's loaded while 62 of 20's and 246 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,017 of 20's and 337 of 40's loaded containers while 366 of 20's and 524 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were three ships namely Bomar Rissen, Sea Ambition and Tian A Zuo carrying containers and oil tankers, respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. Sea Ambition, Willet and Lady Venus carrying oil tankers currently at the berths. There were four ships namely Hyundai Singapore, Cosco Boston, Torvancer and Leo Ocean carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday while two ships namely Northern Dependent and Cosco Sao Paulo carrying containers are expected to sail on Thursday.
There are seven vessels Osaka Tower, Bright World, Nave Polaris, Dong A Glaucos, Mohar, Pindos and Jinfa carrying containers, chemical, unit, cement, coal and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while ten vessels viz. CSCL Sydney, YM Orchid, Batam Trader, Venice Bridge, MT Karachi, Royal Crystal, Glovis Prestige, Johann Oldendorff, Itami and SIS Star carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, vehicle, coal, steel and project cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 117,737 tonnes includes 27,295 tonnes of furnace oil; 12,000 tonnes of palm oil; 11,320 tonnes of slag; 5,701 tonnes of LPG; 1,495 tonnes of project cargo and 59,926 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 19,095 tonnes includes 19,095 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,159 containers comprising of 3,154 containers import and 1,005 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely CV Maersk Hartford carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two ships namely MV Atlantic Glory and MT Eco Glaxy carrying chemical and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of eight vessels viz. CV MSC Albany, CV Maersk Hartford, MV Chintana Naree, MV Atlantic Glory, MT Eco Glaxy, MT Rise Fortune, MT Black Pearl and MT Maritime Dinar currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, slag, chemical, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely CV Northern Jamborne, MV Genuine Hercules, MT Globe Tanya, MT Senna Princess, MT Nave Rigel, MT Harmony, MT Pvt Athend, MT Lion-M and MT Bunga Almanda carrying containers, chemical, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Wednesday.
There were three vessels viz. CV Northern Jamborne, MV Imari and MV Genuine Hercules carrying containers, project cargo and chemical expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There were six ships namely CV Al Khor, MV Imari, MV Belle Masuka, MT Senna Princess, MT Maran Gas Delfi and MT Al Dasma carrying containers, project cargo, fertiliser, LPG, LNG and diesel oil due to arrive on Wednesday.
