Media campaign urged for HIV/AIDS awareness

A meeting of the Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination was held, here on Tuesday under the Chairmanship of MNA Khalid Hussain Magsi. The meeting considered the HIV/AIDS (Safety and Control) Bill, 2013 (moved by Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, MNA), the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Amendment) Bill, 2016 (moved by Parveen Masood Bhatti, MNA) and to discuss the admission policy of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) in MBBS/BDS for Private Medical Colleges.
The committee considered the HIV/AIDS (Safety and Control) Bill, 2013 in detail. The committee recommended that the media campaign be launched for the awareness of the public to control the menace of HIV/AIDS in the country.
The Civil Society might also be activated for that purpose. The Committee decided to take all the Provinces on board while framing the laws pertaining to the subjects related to Provinces. The Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Amendment) Bill, 2016 was also considered in detail. The Committee directed that the comprehensive bill be drafted as it was the sensitive legislation dealing with the transplant of human organs.
The committee also discussed the admission policy of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) in MBBS/BDS for Private Medical Colleges. The committee directed that the admission policy for the private medical colleges be framed according to the rules and regulations of the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council along with keeping in view the interest of students.
