Apropos the news published in various sections of the print media on December 6, 2016, regarding Pakistan State Oil 'acknowledging' the sale of adulterated POL products in the country, the company refutes the claims saying that the PSO representative at the senate sub-committee meeting has been misquoted.
Pakistan State Oil clarifies that at the meeting of the sub-committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources that was held on Monday, December 5, 2016, the PSO official only suggested that price of kerosene may be raised to curb adulteration of diesel with kerosene and eliminate chances of illegal profit in sale of mixed fuels by individuals with vested interests.
He elaborated that if kerosene prices are increased, the diesel adulteration practice can be controlled as price of kerosene oil is at least Rs 25 less as compared with High Speed Diesel (HSD) prices.
Being a responsible oil marketing company, PSO is committed to delivering the best quality fuels to its customers and curbing all adulteration practices. The company has taken the lead in facilitating the government and MNPR in their resolve to improve the fuel quality in Pakistan, and is committed to supporting all initiatives that bring about the betterment of the country's economy.-PR
