Security of journalists: government working towards finalising law: Marriyum
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb has said the government would soon introduce a law to ensure security to journalists and media houses. During her visit to the Recorder House on Friday, she said she was holding meetings with different media stakeholders to finalise the proposed law. She said: "I had a meeting with newspaper editors on Friday and will have one with working journalists at Karachi Press Club on Saturday".
She said that the Prime Minister had expressed his desire to have a law to protect journalists and media houses. She said the government was fully focusing on the resolution of public issues. Work on the development of infrastructure, energy and other key projects is under way, she added.
The government has especially carried out power projects to make the country self-sufficient in energy. In the same way, the government is going to carry out education and economic reforms and public transport projects. It is also working towards implementing the Vision 2025.
The minister said the government had introduced a health insurance scheme to provide medical facilities to the common people of the country. The government is soon starting the scheme in several districts of Sindh including Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar and Badin, she said. The government would accept the court's verdict on the Panama Leaks whole-heartedly, she said, advising the parties having their governments in different provinces should focus on the solution of public problems.
