Civil Quarters Peshawar lifted the trophy after defeating Bejligar Mardan in the sudden-death final of the KP Regional Inter-Club Championship played here at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium on Wednesday. Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani was the chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the match the players of both the finalist teams Civil Quarters Peshawar and Bejligar Mardan were introduced to him.
Former World Champion Qamar Zaman, former Inspector General of Police and Vice President Pakistan Hockey Federation Muhammad Saeed Khan, Organising Secretary Syed Zahir Shah, officials, players and large number of spectators were also present. The match was started on fast tempo and soon Bejligar Mardan took the lead in the 6th minute through inside right Adeel on the field attempt but five minute later Said Shah netted a fine goal to make the tally 1-1.
After the resumption of the second session, both Civil Quarters Peshawar and Bejligar Mardan time and again shattered each other defence with some fine moves as a result it was in the 49th minute when Samad slammed in another goal for Peshawar to make the tally 3-2. A minute later in the 50th minute Alamgir in a counter attack made the tally 3-3 by scoring a beautiful goal through his solo efforts.
Amir Hamza and Haroon supervised the match while Master Khan, Zahir Khan, Ayaz Khan acted as field judges. At the end, IGP KP Nasir Khan Durrani gave away trophies and cash prizes to the position holders. A total of 14 teams, two each from each region, took part in the Championship continued for 10-days.
