Activity at Karachi & Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 147,548 tonnes of cargo comprising 102,534 tonnes of import cargo and 45,014 tonnes of export cargo including 6,266 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 102,534 tonnes comprised of 58,156 tonnes of containerised cargo; 714 tonnes of general cargo; 20,630 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 5,800 tonnes of coal; 13,076 tonnes of DAP; 1,754 tonnes of sunflower seeds and 23,034 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 45,014 tonnes comprised of 25,462 tonnes of containerised cargo; 150 tonnes of general cargo; 19,402 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 3,402 tonnes of rice and 16,000 tonnes of talcum powder As many as 6,266 containers comprising of 4,462 containers import and 1,804 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,476 of 20's and 1,261 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 232 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 632 of 20's and 418 of 40's loaded containers while 72 of 20's and 132 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were four ships namely Express Black Sea, MOL Endowment, El Zorro and Star Jing carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Sea Dream, Taroko, MSC Capri, Hermione, MT Karachi and Morea carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths. There was one ship namely FPMC-17 carrying oil tanker sailed out to sea on Tuesday while two ships namely Sea Dream and Taroko carrying containers respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were two vessels Sea UAFL Zanzibar and ER Maden carrying containers and DAP respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while seven vessels viz. Kota Kamil, Ever Diamond, Wan Hai-506, Torvanger, Milos, Bright World and Chipol Huang He carrying containers, oil tamkers, chemical and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 57,967 tonnes includes 15,000 tonnes of furnace oil; 5,700 tonnes of palm oil; 3,500 tonnes of LPG; 3,284 tonnes of canola seeds; 12,813 tonnes of project cargo and 17,670 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 30,400 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,530 containers comprising of 930 containers import and 1,600 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were two ships namely CV MSC Maria and CV MSC Lucy carrying containers sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three ships namely CV Al-Hilal, MV Eternity SW and MT Eopic Borin Queen carrying containers, steel product and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Al-Hilal, CV MSC Lucy, CV MSC Maria Elena, MV Eternity SW, MV Talia, MT Dong Airis, MT Russel, MT Giene and MT Eopic Borin Queen currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, canola seeds, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as ten ships namely CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV Maersk Pittsburg, CV Al-Hilal, MV BBC Utha, MT Elan Smal, MT Nave Rigel, MT Bahra, MT Pvt Athend, MT Rise Fortune and MT Lion-M carrying containers, project cargo, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Tuesday.
There were four vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV Maersk Pittsburg, MV BBC Utha and MV KSL Chao Yang carrying containers and project cargo expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There were three ships namely CV Hugo Schulte, MV Thorco Legion and MV Thorco Atlantic carrying containers and project cargo due to arrive on Tuesday. There are two ships namely CV Maersk Salina and CV MSC Perle carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
