Activities of Karachi and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 149,340 tonnes of cargo comprising 83,575 tonnes of import cargo and 65,765 tonnes of export cargo including 3,884 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 83,575 tonnes comprised of 47,280 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,532 tonnes of general cargo; 16,365 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 14,413 tonnes of DAP; 749 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 1,203 tonnes of talcum powder and 10,398 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 65,765 tonnes comprised of 49,800 tonnes of containerised cargo; 150 tonnes of general cargo; 14,315 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 3,815 tonnes of rice; 10,500 tonnes of talcum powder and 1,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,884 containers comprising of 2,847 containers import and 1,587 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The break-up of imported containers shows 724 of 20's and 977 of 40's loaded while 15 of 20's and 77 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 422 of 20's and 389 of 40's loaded containers while 15 of 20's and 186 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Kota Lembah, Hyundai Jakarta, Sima Giselle, Fowairet, Everrich-2, KSL Fuyang and Ru Yi Song carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were seven vessels viz. Shanghai Trader, YM Excellence, Express Black Sea, FPMC-17, Everrich-2, King Corn and Star Jing carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Express Black Sea, El Zorro and Star Jing carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo sailed out to sea on Monday. There were five vessels Sea Dream, Taroko, MSC Capri, Tian Ezuo and Milos carrying containers and oil tankers respectively due to arrive on Monday while four vessels viz. UAFL Zanzibar, Ever Diamond, ER Maden and Chang Hang Pu Hai carrying containers, DAP and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 68,366 tonnes includes 18,095 tonnes of diesel oil; 4,100 tonnes of palm oil; 20,000 tonnes of LNG; 3,742 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 5,329 tonnes of project cargo and 17,100 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 18,050 tonnes includes 18,050 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,850 containers comprising of 900 containers import and 950 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were five ships namely CV Express Black Sea, CV Safmarine Nayassa, MT Argent Aster, MT Al-Shamal and MT Bneider sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely MV Kavo Platanos carrying sunflower seeds is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Express Black Sea, CV Safmarine Nayassa, CV MSC Maria Elena, MV Eternity SW, MV Kavo Platanos, MT Argent Aster, MT Al-Shamal and MT Bneider currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, sunflower seeds, LNG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely CV Al-Hilal, MV Talia, MT Eopic Borin Queen, MT Russel, MT Pvt Athend, MT Giene, MT Rise Fortune, MT Lion-M, MT Elon Smal, Bahra and MT Dong Airis carrying containers, canola seeds, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Monday.
There were five vessels viz. CV AL-Hilal, CV MSC Lucy, MV Talia, MT Russel and MT Dong Airis carrying containers, canola seeds, LPG and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, EETL Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM Amazon and CV Maersk Pittsburg carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
