Chief Executive Officer (CEO)Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) S.M. Munir on Saturday stressed upon the business community that they should focus on enhancing export volume of the for strengthening national economy of country.
Addressing the members of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other trade bodies at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here he said that due to worldwide recession the export volume was decreased including Pakistan. Under the circumstance TDAP was making adequate efforts to facilitate the business community of the country on priority basis he said.
Chief Executive Officer TDAP further stated at that there was a need of collective efforts for bringing prosperity and economic stability for overcoming our multiple problems and make Pakistan Prosper. TDAP he said will extend full cooperation and support to the business community for ensuring participation in international fairs and exhibitions with the concept to introduce Pakistan made products in different countries and 50 percent subsidy will be provided to the participants of the fairs and exhibitions.
Under the prevailing situation the business community should put their heart and soul for enhancing the volume of exports to many folds and on this stage the increase in exports will play an instrumental role in strengthening national economy. In this regard he said that business community should promote new comers in business for widening the radius trade and commerce activities across the country not only for boost export volume but also for generating employment opportunities.
In his address of welcome President SCCI Majid Raza Bhutta said that Sialkot is contributing huge amount in Export Development Fund (EDF) but there was no mechanism for its proper utilization due to which Sialkot the export city was being deprived from its due share.
The SCCI President further added that government should formulate a mechanism for the utilization EDF in a judicious way. He said that exploring new markets is vital for the business community and we suggest that TDAP should provide stalls in international trade fairs and subsidy should be provided to those exporters who establish stalls individually. The SCCI President said that Regional office TDAP (Sialkot) should be upgraded to TDAP DG office for resolving the problems of the business community at local level.
The holding of single country exhibitions he said are direly needed at this juncture for enhancing the export volume. We suggest that TDAP should take effective steps for arranging single country exhibitions for projecting Sialkot made products in different countries he added.
