APTMA seeks a level playing field in gas supplies

All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Chairman Aamir Fayyaz has said APTMA is seeking a level playing field in gas supplies to the consumers on the system gas and RLNG, and not targeting any particular mill or group by any extent of imagination. He deplored that a section of media was attributing him such baseless statements that may lead to a divide within the industry. He urged the media to act prudently in dealing with industry issues and avoid politicizing its problems.
"It is highly unfortunate that a section of electronic media has misconstrued my statement that the SNGPL was providing system gas to some mills at cheaper rates while providing expensive allocated RLNG supplies to others. Being APTMA Chairman, I had appealed to the SNGPL for tariff equilibrium for the consumers of system gas and RLNG and had not uttered a single word against any member mill or group in my response to media queries," he added.
He said a particular TV channel has attributed wrong statements to him on the subject, which required a strong and immediate rebuttal. "The APTMA has never criticized individual mills and instead it has always looked for solutions favouring all its membership. He further added that every member mill is respectable to APTMA and all its concerns relate to the faulty supply system of and pricing mechanism of SNGPL and not any particular member mill."
