Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain unveiled The Electronic Time Super Quick (ETSQ) Fuze manufactured by Research and Development (R&D) department of Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) at IDEAS-2016. POF R&D department after diligent efforts indigenously developed 'The Electronic Time Super Quick Fuze' which is adaptable for shells ranging from 105 to 203mm.
This dual purpose fuze is used for high explosive as well as cargo rounds. It explodes at a programmed preset time, thus resulting in bursting or ejection of the shell. The fuze can be used both in manual and automatic modes. The armed forces used to spend 1.2 million dollars every year to import them. But this indigenous creation would not only support the armed forces in the battle field but also benefit the economy by reducing the import considerably.
Rana Tanveer lauded the efforts of POF for producing new weapons and equipments by using innovative technologies and latest techniques. Federal Minister further remarked that it was a matter of pride that POF caters to the requirement of the armed forces and the other law enforcement agencies of Pakistan, exporting arms and ammunition to friendly forces, and strategic partners around the globe.
Chairman POF Board remarked on this occasion that IDEAS will go a long way in defence production and has a bright future. POF Chairman was optimistic to declare that POF has been successful to withstand the modern day challenges and expectations of countrymen for defence production. Subsidiaries of POF ie Wah Industries Limited, Wah Brass Mill, Wah Nobel and POF Clothing Factory also displayed their products in IDEAS.
