Livestock: Minister opens second phase of mass campaign against foot & mouth disease
Sindh Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani inaugurated the second phase of booster dose of vaccine for Foot and Mouth disease among cattle, sheep, goats and other cloven-hoofed ruminants at Veterinary Hospital Landhi Cattle Colony here Saturday. Malkani has said that the provincial government has made all out efforts to eradicate and eliminate Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD)-severe and viral disease of livestock with significant economic impact.
Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Ghulam Hussain Memon, Director General Livestock Akbar Soomro, Director Livestock Jamil Shaikh, Mushtaq Jokhio, District Officer Deputy Director Karachi Dr Muzaffar Vighio, Dr Muhammad Afzal, Director Project Co-ordinator, FAO, FMD PPR Project, Shakir Umar, President Cattle & Dairy and Dairy Farmers Association Amjad Khan Jadoon, President Nagori Dairy Farmers Association, Sikandar Nagori, President Karachi Dairy Farmers Association, farmers/traders, officials, field staff of Livestock and stakeholders attended the inauguration ceremony had completed its first phase.
Muhammad Ali Malkani said that under the leadership of Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah, the provincial government had made all possible efforts for development of the livestock and fisheries sectors. He said to increase the meat and milk production, the private sector would be facilitated on priority but firstly we should take steps for eradication of viral and other disease from all animals through proper vaccination and other treatment methods.
