The Karachi Port handled 109,433 tonnes of cargo comprising 96,078 tonnes of import cargo and 13,355 tonnes of export cargo including 4,468 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 96,078 tonnes comprised of 34,333 tonnes of containerised cargo; 123 tonnes of general cargo; 46,414 tonnes of total bulk cargo and 15,208 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 13,355 tonnes comprised of 11,123 tonnes of containerised cargo; 100 tonnes of general cargo; 1,862 tonnes of bulk cargo and 270 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,468 containers comprising of 2,579 containers import and 1,889 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 637 of 20's and 971 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 359 of 20's and 73 of 40's loaded containers while 178 of 20's and 603 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Hammonia Virginia, MT Karachi, Ardmore Engineer, Classy Victoria, Aziz Torlak and Mare Forum carrying containers, oil tankers, molasses and DAP respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. Wan Hai-911, SC Tianjin, Jo Pinari, MT Lahore, Elka Delphi and Maria carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely MOL Experience, Apogee Spirit and CNS Handan carrying containers, oil tanker and ship respectively sailed out to sea on Friday while another ship namely AP Svetivlaho carrying DAP is expected to sail on Saturday.
There were four vessels viz. Hyundai Jakarta, Cosco Wellington, Dong A Peneus and Ping An Song carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while six vessels viz. Hyundai Oakland, MSC Positano, Octaden, Positive Star, Jio Mao Shan and Orchid Island carrying containers, chemical, vehicle and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
As many as 5,514 containers comprising of 1,845 containers import and 3,669 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM Maupassant and MV Ping An Song carrying containers and project cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely CV Maersk Stepnica and MV Thai Binh Bay carrying containers and rice respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Maupassant, CV Maersk Stepnica, MV Thai Binh Bay, MV Ping An Song, MV Unico Sienna, MT Ardmore Duntless, MV Atlatic Glory and MT New Confidence currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, project cargo, fertiliser, chemical, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as ten ships namely CV CSAV Tokono, MV Diyaa-B, MV Kavo Platanos, MV Black Marlin, MV Lia-M, MV Talla, MT Epic Boliver, MT Rise Fortune, MT Shalamar and MT Harmony carrying containers, cement, sunflower seeds, canola seeds, project cargo, LPG and furnace oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday.
There were three vessels viz. CV CSAV Tokono, CV Uni Florida and MV Diyaa-B carrying containers and cement expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Friday. There was one ship namely CV San Tokono carrying containers due to arrive on Friday. There is one ship namely MT Al-Kharsaah carrying LNG due to arrive on Saturday.
