The Lahore High Court chief justice on Thursday restored a petition of a lawyer who sought registration of a high-treason case against former president Asif Ali Zardari for speaking against the Pakistan Army. Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah had dismissed the petition for non-prosecution.
The petitioner, Aftab Ahmad Virk Advocate had filed an application for restoration of his petition contending that he failed to appear before the court on the last hearing due to unavoidable commitment. He therefore requested the chief justice to restore the petition and decide it on merit. The chief justice allowed the request and issued notices to the respondents for November 25.
