Clashes between Palestinian security forces and gunmen erupted in the West Bank city of Nablus on Wednesday, killing a woman, medics said, as concern grows over intra-Palestinian violence. The 39-year-old was said to have been killed in the old city of Nablus, in the north of the occupied West Bank. The old city has been the scene of repeated clashes in recent months, with Palestinian police carrying out raids to seize illegal weapons.
Four Palestinians, including two police officers, were killed during such raids in August. Tensions have also been high in the nearby refugee camp of Balata, with politics seen as a factor.
