At least six volunteers of a peace committee were killed and three others were injured in firing incident in Tirah valley, Sukh Kamr Kel area of Tehsil Bara of Khyber Agency on Wednesday. According to reports, some unknown armed men opened firing at the members of the Zakha Khel peace committee in Tirah Valley, killing six volunteers and injuring three others.
The security forces rushed to the area and started search operation for the attackers. According to reports, the volunteers were going to Bara, when they were attacked. The Political Administration official said targeted persons were belonged to Zakha Khel Tribe and were returning back from Tirah when they were attacked. The undisclosed killers successfully managed to escape after committing the crime.
Immediately after an incident, the bodies and the wounded were taken to the nearest health centre for medico-legal formalities. According to local sources, three deceased were identified as Jalakai, Lahor Gul, Khwandi while identification of the two could not be ascertained. So far no one claimed responsibility for the act.
However, the locals said tribesmen of Bazaar Zakha Khel jointly with the forces had been fighting against outfit organisations of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Bara base Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) in Tirah Valley and the activity might be practised by any one of them. The official said most of the dwellers of Tirah Valley had two residents one each in upper and down Tirah Valley and they visit one another areas frequently to meet their relatives.
