KP mineral sector: Chinese investors show interest

Chinese investors have expressed keen interest for investment in the mineral sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. An eighteen-member delegation, led by Chan, President of Chinese Overseas Investment Union (COIU) on Wednesday called on Secretary Minerals Development Department, Syed Abdul Jabbar Shah and other officials of the department at Civil Secretariat Peshawar, wherein CEO KPBOIT, Nazeer Awan, Director Planning Minerals Development department, Syed Bilal Khisro, DG Minerals, Fazli Wahid and other relevant were also present on the occasion.
Syed Bilal Khisro briefed the delegation about the rich reserves of minerals and apprised them about the attractive offers of provincial government regarding investment in the said sector. They were told that the government was providing attractive facilities in small, medium and large scale mining for foreign investors and in this connection, in light of CPEC project, a conductive environment was also available for Chinese investors to invest in granite, gold and other types of minerals.
Bilal Khisro added that it will be a good gesture for us that Chinese investors come and invest in mineral sector. He told that by this effort we would get benefits from each other expertise. Director Planning maintained that under the CPEC Investment Plan, the provincial mineral sector was emerging on top priority and we were trying to boost the sector, in which the Chinese investors can contributes their major role.
He said that we would welcome the Chinese investors to invest in exchange of technology, direct investment, joint venture and in other possible ways. He expressed the hope that the same would be made both countries friendship stronger. Chinese delegates showed interest in Indus Gold small scale projects and other mineral titles and said that a conductive atmosphere was available here for foreign investors and they would get benefits from the investment of mineral sector.
