The surveillance and monitoring team of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) in co-ordination with the company's CRD, DSM and security departments along with SSGC Police continued its crackdown against miscreants involved in theft of natural gas by raiding in the areas of Landhi, Korangi and Orangi. The teams disconnected illegal supply of gas and unearthed theft of gas, worth millions of rupees.
The team conducted a raid on Muhammadi Ice Factory located at Orangi Town, Sector 1-C-E that is owned by Khalid who was using gas directly by tapping on auxiliary distribution line through an illegal line. 185 KVA gas generator was being used for illegal power generation at a pressure of 11 PSI. 1,850 cft / hour of gas were being stolen and the estimated volume in 6-8 months comes to around 4 mmcf which amounts to Rs 4 million. Previous claim on this premise is approximately Rs 8 million.

Accused Irshad Khan and other power generating plant were illegally supplying power to different households and commercial customers. Accused Irshad and others responsible beat a hasty retreat when they discovered that the raiding party was undertaking the raid.
Natural gas theft is one of the main causes of Unaccounted-for-Gas (UFG) or line losses, which is severely impacting SSGC's financial bottom line. The gas company is waging an all out war against those involved in gas theft and meter tampering by conducting raids on a regular basis in its franchise provinces of Sindh and Balochistan.-PR
