The Lahore Garrison team emerged as winner of the 10th Royal Palm Golf Team Championship that concluded here at the Royal Palm Golf Course on Sunday. The Lahore Garrison team was comprised of two golfers under 20 years of age, Muhammed Saqib and Ahmed Baig and two other senior ones, Nadeem Ahmed and Ayaz Saleem.
As for the performance of other participating teams, Royal Palm team attained the runners up position and managed to edge past the Gymkhana Greens team through a performance of excellence by their team members M. Rehman and Hussain Hamid. While Rehman came up with an outstanding round of gross 72, Hussain Hamid performed splendidly and his final round score of gross 74 did wonders to enable Royal Palm to excel over Gymkhana Greens.
At the end of the Royal Palm Team Championship the top team was Lahore Garrison with an aggregate team score of 690, followed by Royal Palm at 699 and Gymkhana Greens at 703. The Bahria Town Garden City Team came fourth and their team score was 709.Gymkhana Blues had a team score of 711 and Karachi A ended at a score of 728.
The gross honours in individual category fell in the welcoming lap of Ghazanfar Mehmood of Bahria Garden City Golf club, the top amateur golfer of the country.
In the ladies competition Parkha Ijaz was the best one in ladies net event and grabbed the first net. Second net winner was Sameea Javed Ali and third net was won by Nighat Ikram. In ladies gross the top performer was Ana James Gill (Royal Palm). Rimsha Ijaz of MRG was second,Zaib un Nisa of Royal Palm was third.
At the conclusion of the championship the prizes were awarded to the winners by Arif Nizami in a ceremony attended by Parvez Qureshi, Lieutenant General Muhammed Tariq (retired), Commodore S. M. Shahzad, participating golfers and families. Arif Nizami complimented Royal Palm for lending extraordinary support to sports activity and maintaining a top class golf course.
