Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 181,129 tonnes of cargo comprising 139,051 tonnes of import cargo and 42,078 tonnes of export cargo including 4,067 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday The total import cargo of 139,051 tonnes comprised of 51,942 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,646 tonnes of general cargo; 34,373 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 26,753 tonnes of coal; 6,025 tonnes of DAP; 1,595 tonnes of soda ash and 49,090 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 42,078 tonnes comprised of 27,768 tonnes of containerised cargo; 150 tonnes of general cargo and 14,160 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,067 containers comprising of 2,019 containers import and 2,048 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 227 of 20's and 853 of 40's loaded while 106 of 20's and 08 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 598 of 20's and 215 of 40's loaded containers while 96 of 20's and 462 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Batam Trader, New Ark, Hermoine and Africa Glory carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Ital Millions, New Ark, Wide India, Han Ren and Le He carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Lion M carrying oil tanker sailed out to sea on Tuesday while two ships namely Wide India and Han Ren carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday. There were six vessels viz. Ever Divine, Kota Kaya, Eagle Bostan, Classy Victoria, Equinox Glory and Glovis Magellan carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas, DAP and coal respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while four vessels viz. Wan Hai-501, Orient Phonix, CT Confidance and Tian Shan carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 54,258 tonnes includes 11,600 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,130 tonnes of LPG; palm oil; 3,471 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 2,959 tonnes of project cargo and 33,098 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 50,116 tonnes includes 1,628 tonnes of cement and 48,488 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,294 containers comprising of 1,742 containers import and 2,552 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were two ships namely CV Najran and CV MSC Maeva carrying containers sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely CV MSC Charleston and MV Zi Jing Song carrying containers and project cargo respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MSC Charleston, CV Najran, CV MSC Maeva, MV Diamond Sea, MV BBC Vermount, MV Zi Jing Song, MV Cretan Wave, MT White Purl and MT Al-Salam-II currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, project cargo, Sunflower seeds, LPG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely MV Thai Binh Bay, MV Hoanya Wisdom, MV Kavo Platanos, MT New Confidence, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Ibn Sine, MT Bahra, MT New Naxos and MT Genie carrying rice, sunflower seeds, diesel oil and furnace oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Tuesday.
There were four vessels viz. CV MSC Charleston, CV Maersk Columbus, CV MSC Silvana and MV Hoanya Wisdom carrying containers and rice expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There were five ships namely CV MSC Silvana, CV CMA CGM Corneile, CV Maersk Genoa, CV Maersk Innoshima and MV Unico Siemma carrying containers and fertiliser respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
