Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that his party will prove in the Supreme Court of Pakistan that Maryam Nawaz is Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's dependent. Talking to media on Monday after the party's consultative meeting at Bani Gala, Imran Khan said, "the PTI will submit its reply in the Supreme Court which will show that Maryam Nawaz is Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's dependent."
He also claimed that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government is trying to delay the apex court's proceedings on the Panama Papers case while the Court wants to wind them up swiftly. Khan added that the Prime Minister's lawyer wanted two more weeks to submit documents.
Commenting on the case hearing on Monday, Imran said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was still not ready for accountability in the case since he failed to submit documents. He said since the Prime Minister was ready to explain everything on Panama papers seven months ago he should not hide anything now as he was democratically bound to satisfy the nation.
He said that his party would not do anything that could disrupt the proceedings of Panama Papers case at the Supreme Court. He said that the Supreme Court was informed yesterday that the London flats were bought in 2005 while Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Federal Minister for Defence Khawja Muhammad Asif and Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board Siddique-ul-Farooq had stated that the same flats had been Sharif family's property since the 1990s.
He said that even Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed visited those flats before 2006. The PTI Chairman said the Apex Court was willing to decide the case at the earliest if the prime minister can provide answers to only four questions. "The Supreme Court has asked four questions, no commission is needed if they answer them," Khan said. He said that the Court already hinted at giving its verdict on the Panama Papers case within two weeks.
He claimed that during Monday's hearing the Supreme Court also supported PTI's stance by observing that the state institutions particularly National Accountability Bureau (NAB) were not working as they were not ready to hold influentials accountable. Answering a question, Imran said that he bought a flat in 1983 and never concealed it. He said he earned money through cricket.
Answering another question, Imran said he was also ready for accountability but it should begin with the Prime Minister. Earlier, the PTI chief summoned a party's consultative meeting at Bani Gala. Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed was specially invited to attend the session. The meeting discussed court's proceedings. Talking to media outside Supreme Court, Sheikh Rasheed said:" We will celebrate the victory after SC's decision against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as we have evidence and proof against him."
